CELEBRATE WOMEN'S WORLD CUP!

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Thursday the 10th August students will celebrate the Women's World Cup

Tournament being held in AUS and NZ by participating in soccer themed activities at lunch time.  Please note, this is a whole school event for students and there is no consent required.

On the day the students can:

  • Dress up in their favourite world cup team colours or their house colour.
  • Play Indoor Soccer games in the gym at lunch time.
  • Play Soccer shootout on the kick off area at lunch time.
  • Enter the soccer ball design competition. Art Club will be running in front of the art room for you to get your designs in.
  • Volunteer a gold coin donation via Qkr app. We will donate the money raised to ‘Team Sports 4 All’ who assist families who are experiencing financial hardship to access community team sports.

We would like to celebrate, support and wish the best of luck to the Matilda's in the tournament.

Warm Regards,

PERFORMING ARTS NEWS

Charity fundraiser: "Words make the world go around"

Help the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) publish picture books in first languages for our indigenous communities.

This year our students are "Busking For Change" changemakers. This is a new musical fundraiser by the ILF. Students are learning to sing a song in English and Kriol during Performing Arts lessons and will raise money for their efforts. Each student is invited to create their own fundraising page (linked to the school page), set their own fundraising goal and share how they are participating in Busking For Change with family and friends. As a school community we have a goal to raise $500. All funds raised help kids and families in remote communities access and create books in the languages they speak at home.

Please check out our school page and learn more about this joyful fundraiser that helps us all to be changemakers. We'll sing the song as a whole school at Assembly on 8th September. Pictured are some books already published by the ILF that are available in our library.

Please note all donations are handled by the ILF and do not pass through the school.

DO YOU PLAY AN INSTRUMENT?

Mrs Paech is looking for musicians - students and adults alike! Would you like to perform with us at assembly? It's a simple song to learn and I have sheet music to distribute. Click on the Form to register your interest for yourself or your child. Depending on the amount of interest, I may also be looking for a parent contact/co-ordinator for this event.

LIBRARY NEWS

We will be celebrating CBCA Book Week from Monday 21st to Friday 25th August (Week 8). The theme this year is ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’.

On Thursday 24th August, every student is invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character.

We will have a whole-school parade of costumes in the gym to celebrate all of the students (and carers!) efforts with their costumes from 9:10am

Parents and carers are invited to attend the parade by heading to the gym after drop-off. The parade will conclude by 9:45am.

It is set to be a week full of fun events connected to our love of literacy and it will be fantastic to have a whole school dress up day!
