Faith Matters

at St Francis Xavier School

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,

PRAYERS IN PYJAMAS

Our Prayers in Pyjamas evening was a happy success. Great to see so many of our families engaged in and enjoying the prayer experiences facilitated by our wonderful Junior Team, Miss Melanie, Miss Terri and Miss Kim. A huge thank you to Aliyah, Liam, Rosie and Sebastian, our dedicated School Captains/Faith in Action leaders who all came along to help on the night.

A big thank you to those of you who were able to attend and for your positive support and appreciative comments.  Nights like this are a great way to gather and interact as a community while also enabling us to share some of the ways in which we celebrate our faith with the children.

Thank you to our wonderful School Captains/Faith in Action Leaders, Aliyah, Sebastian, Rosie and Liam who all attended Prayers in Pyjamas to support the staff and Junior Students. I loved the message on Aliyah's top There is Power in Kindness.

MARY MACKILLOP FEAST DAY/PREP + YEAR 6 MASS

On Tuesday morning the Preps and their Year 6 buddies attended the 9:15am mass. It was the feast day of our only Australian saint, St Mary of the Cross Mackillop.

The Year 6s read the readings of the day and the Preps took responsibility for the Offertory Gifts and created their own Prayers of Intercession especially for this service.  The visiting priest was running a little late but we were so impressed with how quietly and patiently our children waited - even the parishioners noticed and commented after the mass. Once again it was lovely to see some of our families at the mass.

 Year 3/4 Mass

Today our 3/4 classes attended the 9:15am mass  I am increasingly impressed by the confidence shown by our children when undertaking their mass responsibilities.

ST FRANCIS XAVIER CHURCH, KUTA, BALI

Joshua in Prep has recently returned from a holiday in Bali and while he was there his family visited St Francis Xavier Church in Kuta.  I am very grateful to Joshua's family for allowing me to share these photos with you. What a beautiful church!

FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION MASS - NEXT TUESDAY

Next Tuesday, 15th August is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary and the whole school will attend the 9:15am mass.  May I respectfully ask for everyone's support in ensuring the children arrive at school on time.  We will be leaving for mass just before 9am.

Neither Miss Kellie nor Miss Claire will be in the office on Tuesday.

If you are running late please bring your child directly to the church.  Thank you.

God's blessings,
