3/4 SV

Week 5, Term 3

Inquiry

Experimenting With Force

Students engaged in hands-on exploration by rotating among various stations, each focused on experimenting with different objects to understand various types of forces. The assortment of objects featured rubber gloves, balloons, rope, slinkies, toy cars, tissues, beanbags, and magnets. It was great fun!

Experimenting With Friction

Students had some fun with a tennis ball, a shoe, and a slide while exploring friction. We started by sliding a tennis ball and a shoe down the slide at the same time to see which one would go the farthest. Then, working in pairs, we got sticky tape and newspaper to tinker with the friction of the ball and shoe – trying to make them go faster or slower. The aim was for both the tennis ball and the shoe to travel the same distance. We had some really cool ideas! After that, each pair got to test out their ideas and see how they worked.

Literacy

Grammar Grab

Before each writing session, students have been actively involved in brief 10-15 minute activities aimed at reinforcing the grammar skills we've covered during the term. These tasks are intentionally crafted to solidify the children's understanding of sentence structure and proper grammar usage.
