Reading:
In Reading the students have been working in small groups focusing on a particular script to conclude the readers theatre unit. They have been practicing their reading fluency, tone and oral speaking skills in preparation to perform to another grade. Our students have been enthusiastic and are embracing their role by getting into character and experimenting with different voices. Below we have Maya D, Lily C and Atharva T practising their lines and Charli D, Sam S, Gus N and Lucas C performing to the wonderful audience of 1A.
Writing:
In writing the students are in the final stages of their information reports on a specific natural disaster and have demonstrated such creative flair when publishing. They are incorporating scientific vocabulary into their writing and are delving deeper into explaining the how and why through writing an explanation report. Here we have Bonnie L, Elliot B and Rory D hard at work ensuring their information and explanation report are ready for the upcoming Expo.
Maths:
In maths, the focus continues to be on addition and subtraction, where students have been expanding and practicing their knowledge of number and describing their mathematical thinking of problems with negative and positive integers, decimals and fractions. Atharva T and Liam W have shared their solutions to our fraction ladder task.
RRRR:
We have been understanding and identifying a variety of stress management strategies in our Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships unit. The discussions and activities are centred at allowing students to recognise stressful situations and understand different ways to cope. This can assist students to manage certain challenges they may experience as they grow and develop.
