Are you CEREIOUS?
F/1 Excursion Fun!
Hola a todas,
It has been another fabulous week at Newlands! The sun has been shining, the F/1s have had the best time at CERES and the basketball rings are back in full use! We also had the opportunity to appreciate our F/1 students as elderly people and clap for the amount of braces that were on show.
It has been a very busy week for our F/1’s this week. We had our F/1’s celebrating their 100 and 300 days of school. Each year this event brings a lot of entertainment and happiness to the school. A big thank you to our parents for supporting this event and to our students who all looked incredible. These events take a lot of work to organise, so a big thank you to the F/1 team for making this happen.
If that wasn’t enough, the F/1’s went on an excursion to CERES (the second group left this morning!). It has been a massive week for the F/1’s!
It’s time for our 2/3’s to get all excited about school camp. It is only a few weeks before our 2/3’s head off to Camp Campaspe Downs to do a range of activities. I have been lucky enough to attend previous years and look forward to speaking to all the Grade 2/3’s about getting an Aeroball court! A big thank you to Karren and the 2/3 team for running Thursday night’s Camp Information Session which I know has raised the levels of excitement for both parents and students even higher! As stated during the 4/6 camp, it is an incredible amount of organisation, so I would like to thank Angelica on all of her hard work.
It was great to hear the 4/6’s talk about their art pieces they are creating to support the biographies they are writing. The students were so excited to share their knowledge about famous indigenous people such Emily Kane and Cathy Freeman and discuss the different ways they were going to celebrate their achievements through various art mediums. I really look forward to seeing the creation of the writing pieces and the art works that coincide.
It was great to go on the building site today and see how quickly everything is going up. As you can see by looking over the fence the bricks are up, but the internal walls are really giving us an understanding of the size of the spaces and how the learning will look at Newlands in 2024.
Next Week, a final reminder that Monday is a pupil free day. This is an opportunity for teachers to utilise this time to build their capacity. Some teachers are visiting other schools, some are attending professional learning sessions, it is a decision based on what the teachers have identified as a focus. The Out of School Care program is available to families to use. If you need this, please contact the office and ask for Jill.
Can you please also give permission and payment for the Science Incursion that was published through SENTRAL! We don't want any students to miss out on the fun!
The events in Term 3 continue:
I know people are thinking why am I reminding everyone considering its on SENTRAL and on our newsletter? It is a very valid question!
Have a great weekend and we will see you all on Monday!
Thanks,
Luke
