COVERING OF LIBRARY BOOKS

Parent Volunteers Needed to Cover Library Books

Sacred Heart has received some new library books generously purchased by the Catholic Schools Office. The books have been entered into the library system however we require two parent volunteers to help contact the books. If you are able to assist with covering the books please contact the school.

BOOK WEEK

Book Week will be held in Week 6 this year from 19 to 25 August. The Book Week Parade will be held on Thursday 24 August at 9am. Students are to come dressed as their favourite book character. Parents and friends are welcome to attend.

Students in K-2 and 3-6 will also participate in a Book Week Competition. K-2 will create a poster of their favourite book while Yr 3-6 will create a diorama (a 3-D scene in a box) about one of the CBCA 2023 shortlisted book.  Please click on the link below to search for a book.

Students will work on their poster and diorama during Library each week. Parents are welcome to view these posters and dioramas during Book Week and the winners will be announced at the parade.

Yr 2-6 Dubbo ZooSnooz Excursion

Parents of Yr 2-6 students were billed for the balance of $87 per student on Compass last Thursday for the excursion. Unfortunately Compass does not distinguish between school fees and excursion balance therefore parents will see one total. We are aware of this and will be applying the $87 to the excursion. If you have any issues or concerns please make contact with Ms Traynor in the office.

Please note that the excursion balance is due by Wednesday 30th August 2023.

A comprehensive note will go home closer to the date with information regarding what the children need to pack.

Premier's Reading Challenge

This year students at Sacred Heart have had the opportunity to participate in the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC).

The NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure in students, and enables them to experience quality literature.

Students in Kindergarten to Year 2 were required to read 30 books with parental assistance if necessary. Students in Year 3-6 must read 20 books. For further information on the rules of the challenge please click here.

If your child has lost their login details please do not hesitate to contact me.

The challenge closes Friday 18th August. If you have any questions about the competition please do not hesitate to contact Tahlia Morrissey (tmorrissey@arm.catholic.edu.au).
