VPSSA Regional Swimming Carnival

Wednesday, the 14th of March, saw 13 St Raphael students compete in the Regional Swimming Carnival, with the winner of each event to qualify for the School Sport Victoria State Championships.

The structure of the day saw two heats being used in each event, with the fastest 3 times across the two races being awarded medals, with first place qualifying for the State Finals. On numerous occasions, we had swimmers in the top 3 after the first heat, only to be knocked out of contention following the second heat. Congratulations must not only go to all the students who swam and represented the school and its community, but also to Jane Huynh (5/6B), who finished second in her 50m Breaststroke event to walk away with a medal.

Special thanks must go to Vicki Malliaras, Sue-Anne Perri and Carole Coloe who assisted in transporting the students to and from the Aquatic Centre, as well as the parents who came along and supported the swimmers who had competed.

Weetbix Tryathlon

Congratulations to Niamh and Sean Ryan who participated in the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon on Sunday the 11th of March. Also at the Tryathlon were Pablo JimaMcDonald and Bella Qui from Year 5. Well done to all of you!!

Coles Sports for Schools

Just a friendly reminder that our school is still participating in the Coles Sports for Schools program, which has been running since early February. I have noticed that the box, which is located at the front office, is almost full and I appreciate the effort that those have gone to to get the vouchers in the box.

I would love to see us be able to fill that box multiple times over as the more vouchers that we are able to collect, the more sporting equipment we are able to add to the collection for the students PE activities.
