AAFC Winter Bivouac
44 cadets braved the cold, rain and the bush at Beaconsfield Upper for 3 days of chilling fun, warming fires and challenging activities. Whether they were:
- a first year cadet learning how to camp in the bush under canvas, read a map, camouflage and conceal oneself amongst the bush or find checkpoints using a compass, or
- a second year cadet surviving in the wild through building a shelter, lighting a fire using a flint, gathering water through a variety of stills, cooking on an open fire and performing search & rescue scenarios
- a third or fourth year cadet instructing lessons, driving the program, helping in the kitchen/HQ, caring for individuals, supporting the team or leading a group to finish a task
They all had a successful camp and can stand tall because of their accomplishments.
