STEAM Program
STEAM News
Last night (25th July), MGC hosted our Senior School Information Night and STEAM was represented with our elective courses for students going into Year 10 with Digital Worlds and Extended Investigations. We demonstrated various parts of the STEAM program including Lego design, 3D printing and of course, our Virtual Reality setup.
Sometimes a subject doesn’t neatly fit into one learning area alone and that is where STEAM steps in. Subjects that combine a number of different learning areas provide students the opportunity to improve their skills in a range of areas. The Year 9 STEAM: Robotics and Engineering elective will combine mathematics, technology, computer science, science and engineering skills within the one subject. Year 10 Extended Investigation allows students to develop their research skills in order to conduct their own in-depth research on a topic of their choice. This topic can be anything that is worthy of research and from any learning discipline. Digital Worlds covers a multitude of computer skills in conjunction with mathematical, design and artistic skills. Unit 3/4 Algorithmics combines mathematical and programming skills to represent processes and decision making.
