Welcome New Staff

Karmini Mauree

I recently joined the Mathematics Department at St Albans Secondary College. I was born in Mauritius where I spent the early years of my life, before moving to the UK. I speak French, Creole and Hindi.

I love travelling through Africa, Asia and Europe. I enjoy good food and learning about the different cultures from around the world. I am a huge fan of International Cinema.

Adam Watson

After working as part of a Retail Project Team for the past couple of years, I have returned to teaching at St Albans Secondary College this year, teaching Year 11 Accounting.

I have enjoyed the year so far and am looking forward to continuing. In my spare time you will find me at the football, a beach somewhere or catching up with family.

Amber Echols

Hello! My name is Amber Echols and I am very happy to be joining the faculty at St Albans Secondary College for the remainder of the school year as a Year 8 and 9 ELA Teacher.

I am originally from Nashville, Tennessee in the United States, where I began my teaching career working in an urban public school after graduating from the College of Charleston in South Carolina with a degree in middle level education. After teaching in Nashville for a few years, my husband and I moved to the Middle East to teach in an Islamic private school in Saudi Arabia, then to Kuwait where we worked in an International Baccalaureate American school. After five years in the desert, we set out to Australia and I have just received my masters degree from the University of Melbourne. I am very happy to be learning Australia's curriculum and getting to know the students and teachers here at St Albans before my husband and I continue our adventure to some other far off land one day.

Emily Simoes

Hi, my name is Emily Simoes and I am a Humanities and English teacher at St Albans Secondary College. Prior to commencing my teaching career at St Albans, I completed a Bachelor of Arts at Monash University and a Masters of Teaching (Secondary) at La Trobe University. I studied an array of units in literature and history including classic and contemporary literature, Medieval Europe, European history, and 20th century history.

As an ex-student at the school, I developed a passion for teaching from the educators who taught me throughout my schooling at St Albans Secondary College. I became interested in drama and music in my early years and became involved in numerous musical productions at the school. I am an educator who will continue to put the needs of my students first, build positive and professional relationships, and who will endeavour to create positive and supportive learning environments for all students in order for them to meet their full potential within the classroom. I am looking forward to commencing my career in education at St Albans Secondary College, in getting to know the students and staff at the school, and in expanding my knowledge and experiences in the teaching field.

I recently bought a house with my partner and we have an adorable puppy. I enjoy quiet time at home, shopping and keeping fit.

If I haven’t yet met you, please pop into the general office to say hello.

Jacqui Hunter

I have been at St Albans Secondary College now for a number of years, but I am currently in the Careers Office with Ms Cathy Armstong until the end of the year.

Since my first role at the college, I have finished my studies in Communication Design, took some time to travel and begun working as a freelancer. Outside of St Albans you'll often find me within close proximity of a cafe, if not at a dance class.

Most of you will have reason to come by the Careers Office this year, so feel free to say hello.

Loan Pham

Hello. My name is Loan Pham. I have recently joined St Albans Secondary College helping Miranda Truong as part of the International Students Program. I speak English and Vietnamese. My office is located in the Library and I work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

My previous work, I have had the pleasure of working in the Banking sector, as well as an administrative role in real estate.  I moved to St Albans 13 years ago, and am raising 3 beautiful boys. One currently studies here, and 2 more still in primary school.

I now have the pleasure to be working and being a part of St Albans Secondary College, and am looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing all I have learnt.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me through this transition. And please feel free to come and say hi.
