Leadership @ Monty

Teaching & Learning

As per the norm at Monty PS, there are many exciting things planned for our students. This week, our Grade 3 & 5 children have participated in Naplan testing and have shown great effort by doing their best! There are many opinions as to the value of this type of testing. For staff at Monty, we use the opportunity to provide children with yet another way to demonstrate their knowledge and showcase their strengths. We encourage all children to “give it a go” and “try their hardest”.   As you would have seen through meeting with your child’s class teacher at the end of last term, there are many learning opportunities given to our students and multiple ways in which we deliver learning programs and assess our students. Naplan adds yet another dimension to what we as teachers, know about the learning style and capability of our students.  Congrats to all our students that participated and used a "Growth/I can do It" mindset! Hugh from The Resilience Project also spoke about Naplan on Tuesday morning on the Today Show - check out the Monty Facebook page or https://www.facebook.com/pg/resiliencep/posts/.

Family STEM Night

Next week, we celebrate Education Week with a focus on a STEM. Next Thursday evening we are hosting a family STEM night (Grades F-2 from 6pm-7pm; Grades 3-6 from 7pm-8pm) where the children will be solving a forensic mystery! Thanks to the staff and parents who are putting a huge amount of effort into ensuring that this evening will be a fun, learning experience for all!

Mother's Day

What a privilege it was to celebrate Mums, Grandmas and all people special to us, with a breakfast and stall last week. Thank you to everyone for making this occasion really meaningful for our students and families.

Well Done Teachers!

This week our fabulous teachers were again able to showcase some of our teaching and learning programs here at MPS. Our staff ran two Professional Development seminars for teachers in our local school's network around the use of VCOP and CAFE reading strategies. These sessions were booked to capacity and I would like to thank our teachers for their willingness to showcase their expert knowledge.

I look forward to seeing our fabulous Monty community out and about on Election Day this Saturday. Thanks to all those that are assisting- it’s not too late to be involved, call the office or drop in a cake on Friday for our stall!
