Spotlight: Year 1/2 Community

 Focus: Social Skills

Over the past few weeks the Year 1/2 Community has been developing their social skills on a Friday afternoon by using the online learning space as a way to chat, discuss and play a range of games together. We've had drawing competitions, scavenger hunts and given students a chance to catch up with each other through an online learning space.

Over the coming weeks we will continue to work on these skills in order to meet the social needs of students and promote healthy relationships and respect between all children.

Along with this as part of our inquiry unit we have also been developing the habits of mind that were explored over Term 1. In particular our 'scientists' have been developing their skills in persistence, striving for accuracy and responding with wonderment and awe.

Topic: Favourite recipes from the CCK staff!

Baking has become one of the hottest topics amongst the CCK staff. Whenever we are supervising at school, the staff room is filled with aromas from freshly baked goods! It may be to ease the boredom, soothe our souls, to give us a feeling of productivity, to make our family members happy or maybe we just like food! During our Learning Conferences, I found out that all of our CCK families were doing the same at home. So I thought it would be nice to share some of our favourite recipes with you!

Topic: Fun activities to do at home with the kids during isolation

Last week, I posted some ideas for activities to do at home with the kids during this period of isolation. The Feely family sent through some gorgeous photos of them giving the Marshmallow Challenge a try! I wonder if anyone can make a bigger tower than the Feely family?
