Hogan Golf Cup
The Hogan Golf Cup was held on Monday 24th February. The Hogan Golf Cup is a golf tournament played between the Cranbourne and Clyde North Campuses. For the first time the competition was moved to Pitch n Putt in Mulgrave and played over 18 holes. The competitors were met with challenging conditions which required the players to play in the rain for a large part of the day. Congratulations to the Clyde North Campus for being the 2020 Hogan Golf Cup champions.
Each campus also plays a separate competition by themselves for points towards the McGuigan Shield (Cranbourne Campus) and Rosemary Graham Shield (Clyde North Campus). Congratulations to Assisi at the Cranbourne Campus for winning the competition for the McGuigan Shield. Assisi were represented by Rachel Ward and Callum Pola. The points towards the Rosemary Graham Shield at the Clyde North was won by MacKillop which was represented by Tom Ryan and Nathan Ryan.
Students also competed in four nearest to the pin competitions. Tom Ryan won 3 of these and John Benedict Eviota the other. Both students from Clyde North Campus.
Cranbourne Campus House Swimming Carnival
The Cranbourne Campus House Swimming Carnival was held at the Doveton by the Park Swimming Pool on Thursday, 20 February 2020. Whilst is wasn’t the warm, sunny day that we were hoping for, this didn’t stop the students from dressing up in there House colours and singing chants to support their peers.
2020 saw one of the closest competitions in the pool, seen in many years. The competitive races held in the 50m pool which included freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke and freestyle relay came down to the final race to crown the 2020 champions. Congratulations to Assisi for being the 2020 Swimming Champions narrowly edging out Glowrey.
Throughout the day novelty events were also ran in the smaller learn to swim pool. This is to allow all students to have an opportunity to participate on the day. Novelty events do not contribute to the Swimming Championship however they do contribute to the McGuigan Shield which is presented at the end of the year to the House that has compiled the most points in the many vast House Competitions throughout the year. Congratulations to Glowrey for being the winning House of novelty events.
The other opportunity Houses have at the swimming carnival to win points towards the McGuigan Shield is through ‘House Spirit’. This is awarded to the best dressed and best supported through chants and cheering. In 2020 this was won by Glowrey.
Congratulations to all students that participated so enthusiastically in all activities throughout the day. Age Group Swimming Champions will be announced at the Harmony Day Assembly on Tuesday, 10 March 2020.
