Everything in the universe has a rhythm
‘Everything in the universe has a rhythm, everything dances’ – Maya Aneglou, poet, dance and activist.
On Monday, 24 February 2020 the Year 11 and 12 Dance students from the Cranbourne campus attended Top Class Dance at the Melbourne Recital Centre. Top Class Dance is presented by VCAA and showcases a variety of top scoring solos from VCE Dance students in 2019. These solos fall under two categories: the skills-based solo which students choreograph in Unit 3 and the cohesive composition solo that students’ choreography in Unit 4.
Attending this performance inspires the VCE Dance student to create their own movement vocabulary within their solo dance works throughout the year.

Year 9 Drama
The year 9 drama classes have been learning about how to produce a play, focusing on areas such as scripting, directing, costume, sound and lighting design and other production areas. In classes this week the Clyde North students presented their realistic performances in front of a year 7 audience. Some of their thoughts about this unit of work are below.
In year 9 drama I have learnt to express my emotions and work together with other people. My favourite part of drama so far is playing games and performing our play. I also enjoyed practising my script.
- Daniel George
In year 9 drama I have really enjoyed this unit of work because it was fun and I learnt how to keep a serious face during a performance. I also learnt how to express my emotions and work in a group.
- Amanda Lobow
I really enjoyed this unit of work because this is the first time I have performed in front of an audience and it was really fun, I also enjoyed participating with another group it was interesting and enjoyable.
- Esther Bana
I really enjoyed this unit of work because we got to explore all the different components that make a good drama performance, from costume designing to writing scripts and using sound effects.
- Marcelina Tombra
I found this unit of work really fun as we were able to get into the mindset of our characters. We had to make our performances as realistic as possible, which at first was challenging but as we broke it down we were all able to create a successful performance.
- Olivia Johnson
This unit of work was really fun and helped me gain some confidence around my class. The exercises we did before the drama play helped me understand the task really well. After practicing small drama plays, our class was comfortable and happy to perform our play.
