In this course, students will develop Outdoor Education knowledge in; planning procedures, catering, venue interpretation, emergency response, leave no trace principles, sustainability and risk management. The knowledge components of the course compliments the practical elements. Each week there is a 2 hour class. Ā The summer terms are spent snorkelling, swimming and perfecting aquatic rescue techniques. Ā The winter terms see the class mountain biking, bushwalking and undertaking emergency response scenarios. Ā

A highlight is the three day camp which allows the skills and knowledge to be applied in a remote and stunning environment. Ā This elective course builds skills and attributes to support IB Diploma Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) and prepares students to be able to participate in the Outdoor Leadership course and VET Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation at Clemes.
