Bird Day

Today the college enjoyed a visit by Martin and three of his friends, from the Leigh Valley Hawke and Owl Sanctuary.  Martin told us about birds of prey and with help from Jedda and Pickles was able to show the students an up-close look at talons and beaks. We also learnt about wing span.  These two species of falcons were sweet looking birds, but

we could see the damage they would do if fingers got too close.

We then had the pleasure to meet the very grumpy looking Moki, who looked annoyed about being woken up. Martin was able to talk about nocturnal and diurnal…. Your students will be able to tell you the difference between the two.

Martin left us with a very worth noting ‘Owlgebra’ equation…. Birds – Habitat = Extinction!
