Modified Rugby Program
Kitty and James from Modified Rugby Program (MRP) visited Mt A recently to talk about a leadership opportunity for the girls via their Player Mentor Program.
My daughter, Claire Baildon, attended her first training session a couple of weeks ago. Kitty was extremely impressed at Claire's confidence and maturity when she approached her on the day and explained her family's connection to MRP and that she would love to participate. Kitty said at thirteen she would never have approached someone she hadn't met before like Claire did, and she would be a wonderful fit for MRP. When Claire told me that evening after Assembly, I was also extremely proud of her and I'm sure my heart skipped a good beat.
As background, a beautiful friend of mine passively introduced us to MRP approximately six years ago when her son became a player mentor. We have known Tara and Rhett since Claire was about three or four years old and Rhett is now twenty. Since MRP commenced Rhett took it into the Toowoomba community, when he boarded at Toowoomba Grammar, and it now extends north as well into the ACT. Incidentally, he is currently a UNICEF Australia Young Ambassador, whilst continuing to be involved in MRP. It's a privilege to watch Tara guide Rhett to the amazing young man he is today.
Last year I was fortunate enough to apply for, and obtain, a $10,000 grant for Megan and Anthony Elliot, who established MRP, through the company for which I worked.
I'm hopeful that by stepping forward into this wonderful opportunity, Claire may have found her tribe, and I couldn't be more proud of the service she has chosen to support.
