 Revised GAT date: 

 Wednesday 7 October. No classes for students undertaking this important test (General Achievement Test: GAT). 

Anything But Screen Days! 

  • Wednesday 5 August 7-10
  • Fri 21 August  7-10
  • Mon 14 Sep 7-10

Teachers have been very conscious of student workload and ensuring that there is adequate time to complete tasks. We have also designated several Anything But Screen Days for 7-10 students with some increased breaks from study for our Seniors as well (but they may still be set some work/ catch-up tasks on these days). Our three ABS Days are: 

 

Families are encouraged to select activities from the list below, and to also review and choose work from the Great Moments in Isolation extension and enrichment task that has a creative, non-screen based, component to complete. On designated ABS days, students are encouraged to focus on their health and wellbeing with some options including: 

  • ​Completing arts/craft activities (such as those included in the ‘Great Moments in Isolation’ task).
  • Taking on a House Challenge (paper planes, photo comp, step challenge, etc.)
  • Writing, playing, recording music - could be used for Kool Skools (stay tuned for an update on the postponed time)
  • Working on a personal project (non-computer based)
  • Fixing something/ restoring something
  • Sanding and painting something
  • Building/ sewing/ knitting/ making something
  • Gardening!
  • Engaging in a sport/ exercise/ yoga/ etc.
  • Reading hard copy books
  • Taking photos on an old school camera
  • Engaging in mindfulness activities
  • Playing board games/ completing jig saw puzzles

These days should be planned in advance so that the time is used constructively. Years 7-10 Teachers will not set work on these days and students are encouraged to send an image of something that they have completed to instagram@coburg.vic.edu.au

 

*Please note information relating to camps, work experience and 10 and 11 exam and transition period and end of year program for 7-9 students will be released later pending advice from DET and the Chief Health Officer.
