Coburg Story on Instagram

It has been nice to get to know more about staff and students while we're learning from home so this is a great new initiative to foster that. Each week on our instagram account (Coburg_High_Official) you'll be able to 'meet' a student and a staff member and learn a little more about our amazing CHS community.

Challenge Yourself!

There are a wide range of activities and experiences available to students during remote learning. Here is a great reference guide for you, do you see something you'd like to learn more about? Check Compass for full details.

Languages

In Yr 8 Mandarin students have been learning how to talk about their home, which is great as students are at home meaning they can apply their language completely. In Spanish Yr 8's are on safari in South America to learn all about South American animals and how to describe them in Spanish. They have created some really detailed animal profiles. In year 10 Spanish, students have been writing daily entries in their personal journals. They are exploring using a personal style, writing about their experiences and attempting to write form someone else's perspective in Spanish.

Library News

Hello from your librarian. While the library is no longer able to loan physical books due to the new restrictions, the eBooks and audiobooks are still very much available to borrow. If there is confusion on accessing the online library catalogue, have a look at the following training guide put together by our very own IT wiz, Ramsey. A how-to video can be found here

Don’t forget to look at the News page as well. There are new items being added every week. This week is the 75th anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and a video has been added to the news page.

The ‘Any Book’ Bookclub still needs more students to join. If you love reading and want to rave about the book you are currently devouring come and join the club. We will host our first online meeting on August 27th during lunch.

Have you ever read a book review and really wanted to do one of your own? Coburg High Library is asking for reviewers to upload reviews for their favourite or least favourite books. Go to the online library catalogue and click the review tab. Best review of the year wins the end of year library prize. Get reviewing now!

The Premier’s Reading Challenge is still underway. Any students who have already signed up for the challenge, keep reading and get to that finish line. If you need help with your choices or accessing the site just email your friendly librarian. I am here to help.

Don’t forget that Clickview has the Movies & TV option available as well. And it’s free! There are some amazing documentaries and very entertaining movies available to view. Be informed and entertained all at once.

Finally, we have recently begun the exciting task of greening up the library. So far there are a few small plants gracing the windowsills but we need more. If you have any plants or pots you would like to donate from term 4 when we all return please let the school know. Send us some photos and we will contact you with drop off times. Studying in an environment filled with beautiful plants can be inspiring, so let’s inspire our students with colour.

Until we all meet again, farewell from your library team.
