Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome Back to Term 3!
The Winter sunshine has certainly made it easier to be outside, walking around the neighbourhood and enjoying all that our local communities have to offer. I hope that you are relaxed and energised after the break. I was lucky enough to escape to Echuca for the first week of school holidays. I certainly enjoyed the long walks and bike rides along the Murray. The warmer weather was appreciated also.
The staff and I are looking forward to another Term of teaching and learning remotely and know that your children will be engaged and enriched by this experience.
Thanks for coming in to collect the Take Home Packs. We hope that your child has everything they will need to support their learning at home. Special thanks to Coles in Mitcham for donating all of the bags for our take home packs also.
We have decided not to open the School Library at this stage. As cases of Covid19 begin to drop in the City of Whitehorse, we will reconsider opening the library.
I am pleased to share our new School Vision with the Community - A Welcoming Community Leading the Future of Learning ‘With Faith and Love.’ This was developed by the whole staff and has been approved by the School Board.
Photos
I will be adding Home Learning Photos to our newsletter so please send in photos of your child working and learning at home.
Health and Safety Precautions
For any staff or students coming into school we are checking temperatures and applying hand sanitiser each day.
Mask will need to be worn entering and leaving the school. They do not need to be worn by students or by staff during the day or in the act of teaching.
Intensive cleaning and sanitising of high touch surfaces will continue throughout the week.
Fun Fridays
Every day is fun at St John's but its even more fun on Fridays. Remember to join in this Friday and Dress up in our Whole School Theme of 'Winter Woollies.' I look forward to seeing you all dressed up on your Google meets.
Outreach
If you and your family are in need of any extra support including meals or counselling, please do not hesitate to call the school or contact me via email.
Have a great week!
