Healthy Relationships and RESPECT!
Guest speaker Adam Przytula visited Cornerstone on Friday 3 June and spoke to the whole school dealing with RESPECT; one of our key values. The session was enjoyed and received by all students. Later in day Adam took a session on RELATIONSHIPS (friendship) which is another key value at Cornerstone. This session was aimed at our Year 7 & 8 students to help them all understand healthy relationships and boundaries.
Book Fair
A huge thank you to parents, teachers and students for supporting this years Book Fair.
Beth from Dymocks shared her time hosting our Book Fair. Beth excitedly told us that we $2500 worth of books were sold. The school receives a percentage of the sales to spend on books for our library. This means that the popular titles from the Book Fair will soon be in our library for all to enjoy!
It was fantastic to finish the Book Fair week with a Book Character parade. Pictured is the Year 3 class.
Tennis South West
Tennis Coach - Calum Macaulay from Tennis South West provided tennis training with our Primary Students. It was a fun time for all and a great chance to see and try what tennis is all about. Thanks Calum for sharing your tennis expertise and passion with the primary students.
If your child enjoyed their tennis experience and would like to join as an after school activity then please contact - Coach Calum on the following number Phone 0400 486 640.
Nature Play
On their way back from their excursion, our Dunsborough Pre Primary's demonstrated something that is very striking about our students.
When released to play after enjoying their ice cream, instead of rushing to the man made playground, they dashed to the ditch, weaving and dancing through the leaves. And then, discovering the bridge they immediately initiated a dramatisation of the story
Three Billy Goats Gruff.
It is a beautiful representation of what we strive for at Dunsborough Cornerstone. Fully engaged imaginations, gravitating towards the natural environment because that is what they know and love and respect.
Clay - Play Time
Our Dunsborough Pre Primary class had the privilege of spending time at Claylines studio, the beautiful working space of Sally May Mills. We explored the idea of 'artist'; applied and deepened our inquiry into materials and their properties and expanded our horizons of what is possible. Thank you for having us Sally.
New Playground
The playground designed and dreamt of by our students, parents and staff at our Dunsborough Campus, the first stage of the project is underway. Keep watching this spot for further updates.
Visual Art
We love seeing students’ Talents and Gifts nurtured and see them continue to grow and develop through their learning here at Cornerstone.
Today we celebrate these talented artists, who under the guidance of Mrs Joelee Haskett, are growing and developing in their artistic skills and abilities.
The artist pictured on the left is one of our Year 11 students working on a portrait.
Also a sneak peek of the Year 10's Visual Arts Mural.
Bible - The Weekly Scoops
Mrs Langenhoven's Bible class were asked to replicate a Bible story in a creative way. The year 7's were incredibly creative and made models, paintings, books, Minecraft worlds and sculptures. Overall, the effort of the students was incredible! Well done year 7's!
The Story of Two Saplings By - Mrs Liz Bartley
Once upon a time there were two little saplings. They were the same age and raced each other to see how fast they could grow. One was called "Blackbutt" and the other "Peppermint". The wind blew and the storms came. The friends tangled their roots together to hold on so they wouldn't blow over. As the years past their trunks grew thick and strong. They were not babies anymore, they were stout young trees, and as their branches blew in the wind they teased each other with slappy leaves like brother and sister. One day something surprising happened. Their trunks touched. They had been so busy racing each other up to the sun that they hadn't noticed how round their trunks were growing. They were so happy they hugged and hugged. Blackbutt and Peppermint wrapped their arms around each other and never let go. They still grow tall and strong but they are old now and couldn't let go even if they wanted to. In a way they have become one tree. Every year children come and play and picnic under them. They climb their branches and swing off the boughs. We affectionately call them our Twisty Tree.
