St. Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal

Grandparents Day Celebrations - 26th July

The Feast of St. Anne and St. Joachim (Jesus' grandparents) is on Tuesday 26th July (Tuesday of Week 2 next term). All grandparents are invited to our celebrations at the Primary Campus on this day. We will begin with a liturgy at 10.15am in the Primary Hall, followed by morning tea in the grounds. We hope you are able to join us!

Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation will take place on Sunday, 18th of September at Mary Help of Christians Church. Students wishing to receive the sacrament must be baptised and have received the sacraments of Confession and Eucharist.

Students will be required to enrol in the sacrament by attending an enrolment Mass early next term.

LIBRARY NEWS

Reading during the holidays is a great thing!

Reading isn't just a school activity and is a fabulous way to spend valuable holiday time. Besides giving students a great mental health break, reading for pleasure is positively linked with an increase in the following literacy-related benefits for children:

  • Positive reading attitudes
  • Greater self-confidence as a reader
  • Pleasure reading in later life
  • Reading attainment, phonics and writing ability
  • Text comprehension and grammar
  • Improved spelling
  • Breadth of vocabulary
  • Greater all-round academic success

Please encourage your child to read for fun, and a whole lot of other great things will ensue! It doesn't matter what they read...graphic novels, non-fiction, magazines....what's important is that they DO read!

Don't forget SORA as a great e-book platform, free to every student at our school. For login details see THIS LINK.

Calling all Library books!

Many of our students regularly return their library books in the appropriate time frame. However, we do have many outstanding books, some of which are from early Term 1. Recently, students received a printed reminder of the books that are outstanding. Please support your child with ensuring their library books are returned to school in week one of Term 3. Lost or damaged books are asked to be paid for. Thank you for your understanding.

PRC Reminder for Participants

Another gentle reminder that this year's Premier's Reading Challenge closes in mid Term 3 so, if you are completing this at home with your child, please be noting the books on your PRC log in Reading Record so everyone gets to complete it who nominated in Term 1. School holidays are a great time to get this challenge well and truly under control.

What day is the library open on each campus?

Primary:  Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday every week.

Infants:   Thursday and Friday every week.

Both campuses are open:

From 8.15am for Early Bird reading and sticker collecting; and Recess and Lunch in playtime for reading, drawing and various clubs.

See you in the Library,
