A note from Mr Jackson
Reports Release Next Week
While we spent some time living at a distance, we are excited to finish this semester with two terms of face to face learning. We look forward to sharing student reports with parents in the middle of next week and will alert parents via Compass when they are ready for download from the Compass platform. We hope that they will provide some opportunity for discussion as we step into the next term’s Three Way Conferences.
5/6 Camp Adanac
It was wonderful to celebrate the second camp for the year, with three days at a campsite located out near Healesville. A special thanks to our 4/5/6 teachers, volunteer and staff who brought the camp together, not an easy feat! For some students the highlight for the three days away was the opportunity to paddle canoes and for others it was zipping along the flying fox. Despite the cold and wintery wet weather, students embraced and celebrated the chance to go away. While a number slipped and found themselves planted with mud and others huddled together in light rain as they listened to canoeing instructions, all challenged themselves and participated with enthusiasm and positivity!
As we step into 2023, our camping program will be reviewed and refreshed in light of the changes to industrial agreements. We look forward to sharing these changes once they become clearer.
Gifts to our Tax Free Building and Library Funds
An Uber of families have recently generously contributed to the Rosanna Primary Library or Building Funds. A special thanks to them for their gifts that will enable books to be purchased and projects around the school completed. Please contact the office if you would like to contribute.
‘Flash’ Comes to Rosanna Primary
Many of you know that we are fortunate to have with us our own ‘Flash’! This week I wanted to recognise the achievement of Gil in the 2/3/4 Learning Area for his remarkable achievement in the Divisional Cross Country. He competed with students from across Melbourne in Cross Country and came a very respectable 14th! Make sure you congratulate him … if you can catch him.
End of Day Dismissal
We are always looking to ensure our end of day procedures provide for the safe departure of students. Staff are timetabled to provide supervision in both the upper and lower playgrounds until 3:45pm.
In the upper playground, to ease traffic congestion and facilitate the quick pickup of students, students who are awaiting pickup are seated near the gate. At 3:45pm, teachers seek to ensure students playing on the playground have a parent who is actively supervising them. We encourage parents to ensure their child is actively supervised by entering the playground space/yard. Children may continue to play with the appropriate parental supervision of their child/ren. If there is no parent present or a parent cannot be identified by the teacher on duty the child/ren will be asked to attend the office. It is important to note that any child who is not picked up by 3:45pm will be admitted to TheirCare as there is no supervision provided beyond this point. Registration at TheirCare is free.
Bike Cover Takes Shape
Over the coming week we hope to see a cover over the bike area that will continue to support our active community of riders. This project has been boiling away for some time. The terrific fundraising efforts of the Junior School Council and our Building Fund has enabled us to go ahead! We are all looking forward to see it take shape over the coming weeks.
Early Finish – End of Term
A reminder that school will finish early at 2:30pm on Friday 24 June. TheirCare is available for parents needing out of school hours care for their child/ren.
