Prayer

This week’s Gospel readings have been very beautiful and also challenging. Monday’s Gospel especially spoke to each of us and called us not to judge others and to accept one another as we are. We all need to look at ourselves before judging others. At Assembly this week, I shared this very message with the boys – to stop being critical of each other but rather to accept and include each other for who we are.

Matthew 7:1-5

End of Term 2 and  Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews

A reminder that senior school classes for Term 2 will conclude at 12.00 pm tomorrow (Thursday 23 June).  This will allow students and staff to be available for the online Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews for Years 7 - 10, which will commence at 1.30 pm. Interviews will then continue from 8.00 am - 5.30 pm for Years 5 - 10 on Friday 24 June.

Bookings for interviews will close tonight at 7.00 pm.

Commencement of Term 3

Classes will resume for Term 3 on Tuesday 19 July.  On Monday 18 July, all teachers at the College will participate in an EREA Professional Development Day.

Visit by Old Boy and Seminarian, Daniel O'Kelly (Class of 2013)

The College was very pleased to welcome Old Boy, Daniel O'Kelly, for a visit on Monday morning.  Daniel is currently a seminarian at the Good Shepherd Seminary in Homebush, studying to enter the priesthood, after having recently completed an Engineering and Commerce Degree.

Daniel joined us for our Chapel Mass on Monday morning and them joined the full College Assembly, where he spoke of his school days at Pius and also shared his calling to the priesthood.  Fr David Ranson also joined us and gave great encouragement to the College once again.  The College presented Daniel with a book of Blessing and Prayers for his future ministry.

Following assembly, Daniel then toured the school and remarked on the many changes since he left.  He visited a range of classes in Year 7, 10 and 12.

'The Rookie Investor' - James Brown (Class of 2018)

The College was pleased to welcome back ex-student James Brown from the Class of 2018 as author of his new book 'The Rookie Investor'. James was a College Prefect and Sportsman of the Year in 2018. He has entered the world of finance and investment, most focused on property.

James presented to a packed lunch-time audience of senior students, and generously gifted each audience member a copy of his book.

Congratulations to James on his success and we thank him for visiting the College and presenting a thought-provoking and inspiring talk.

Term 3 Staffing

Mr Paul Taylor from the College Performing Arts Department leaves us at the end of Term 2 and will take up the position of Head of Strings at The King's School. We congratulate Mr Taylor and thank him for his service to the College over the past 2 years and we wish him well for the future.

In Term 3, we will welcome Ms Jessica Chen into the Performing Arts Department to teach Music Years 5-9. Ms Chen is an accomplished Musician with particular skills in choral, piano and wind instruments.

A Great Debating Season

The College has enjoyed a wonderful debating season and I thank Mrs Michele Waterson, Ms Leigha Zervakos and Mr Ryan Balboa and our other extremely talented external coaches (many of whom are ex-students of the College).

Congratulations to all our debating students and we still have a number of teams who are continuing into the elimination finals. Please see a comprehensive report in the Senior Sport and Extra Curricular page of today's Woodchatta containing a listing of those teams who have advanced through to the finals.

Year 5 Camp

Year 5 returns today from a wonderful 3 day camp at Point Wolstoncroft.  The camp was a great success and we welcome them back.  Thank you to the teachers who accompanied them:  Mrs Jill Greenwood, Mrs Jenny Williams, Mr Paul Cummins, Mr Glen Carroll, Mrs Bridie Barrett and Mrs Mary Doheny.

This beautiful photo was taken at camp yesterday morning.

Uniform Shop

We thank all parents for their patience this term around our Uniform Shop deliveries.  We have now received the order of trousers and our Uniform Shop Manager, Mrs Deb Muirhead, is working through them.  The Uniform Shop will reopen next term on Monday 18 July at 8.00 am.

There are a range of College activities during this break. We wish the following groups a safe and productive range of tours and activities:

  • Red Dirt to Tour to Central and Western NSW
