ACCA Excursion

Meatus Exhibition at ACCA
Meatus Exhibition at ACCA

On Friday the 3rd of June the year 12 VCE art students attended an excursion in the Melbourne CBD to ACCA – the Australian Centre for Contemporary Arts. The day started off with accident delays leaving everyone but Ms Seaton 30 minutes late on the train, luckily she allowed for extra time and everything was all good. We then ventured to Krispy Kreme to celebrate National Donut Day with a free original glazed donut before hopping on the tram to ACCA. Once at ACCA we spent the morning exploring Melbourne looking at several different sculptures and learning about their history and meanings. After a quick lunch break at Southbank we headed back to ACCA for their contemporary art installation exhibit ‘Meatus’. ‘Meatus’ was an interesting exhibition, rooms turned bright reds and oranges littered with speakers providing a sound that overwhelmed us, coming from all around the room, ever present. The sounds were rather strange and elicited quite a few giggles from the group. Overall the excursion was great and we were all glad to have gone even though we didn’t completely understand the contemporary exhibition.

Art Excursion: Top Arts

At the end of Term 1, 2022, Year 11 Studio Arts and Year 12 VCAL and VCE Art went on an excursion to Top Arts in the National Gallery of Victoria. Top Arts showcases the best of the best of VCE students from the previous year in the state of Victoria. Out of 1364 students who applied, 40 were chosen for Top Arts.  The Top Arts exhibition is held for the public to view a showcase their efforts. Top Arts gives Victorian students the chance to submit their work into the NGV and present it for everyone to view; its not only the artwork that needs to be submitted, they also have to submit their folio with the work and research leading into that project. Top Arts was a very fun day to explore and learn what others look at in their work and help inspire our own art making.  The Year 12 students also looked at the street art as they will be studying that in Semester 2.
