YEAR 5/6 SLIPPER DAY

What are the best shoes to wear in Winter time?... Slippers!

Got to keep those feet warm during this cold start to Winter; which is exactly what our Year 5/6 classes did by having a Slipper Day last week! Taking some time to read, put their feet up and show off some awesome slipper footwear.

Not a bad way to spend a Winter's day!

THE PUSH UP CHALLENGE

By Ivan Seskis (Head of Senior School)

This year, 20 BHCS staff members signed up to do the Push-Up Challenge. The goal was to complete 3139 push ups over 24 days to raise awareness for mental health. (https://www.thepushupchallenge.com.au/).

The Push-Up Challenge has seen over 250,000 participants push for better mental health and has raised over $16 million for mental health and suicide prevention in Australia.

In 2021 The Push-Up Challenge raised an incredible $9 million to help The Push For Better Foundation, headspace National Youth Mental Health Foundation and Lifeline Australia run vital mental health programs and save lives.

Let us all continue to support one another when it comes to mental health.

YEAR 7 CHARACTER ART - PINCH POTS

By Judy Woods (Art Coordinator)

Dreamed, designed, created, dried, fired, glazed, planted - that is the journey of a character pinch pot. Just like the creators themselves, each pot has its own unique character. Expression, form, colour, and texture is the essence of what makes each clay sculpture individual.

Each student had the opportunity to plant a succulent into the top of their sculpture. As the succulents were watered, the functionality of the sculptures was tested. Some students placed the drainage hole in the nose, ears and yes, some sculptures cried as drainage holes were placed in eyes.

A huge amount of mess was made, and fun was had by all. The Character Pinch pots are currently on display in the DC, but for those who are unable to visit please enjoy the photos.
