Boys’ Hockey

The holidays have been very good for the boys. We recorded our first win on the Friday night school broke up and doubled up with another victory last Sunday afternoon.

Holiday commitments and illness meant some searching around to find players. We welcomed Charlie Hawthorne and Jake Butcher to our squad and also welcomed back Old Collegians Jock Adamson and Marcus Munro for a game each.

We continued to develop as a team and individuals’ confidence grew as we played more cohesively - and, importantly, scored goals.  Lachie Rees (2) and Captain Charley Falla-Jones scored in our 3-2 win over Couldabeens and, last weekend, Isaac Shaw (2), Will Merrin and Ciaran Nelson found the net as we defeated Monivae 4-1. 

In both games Tobe Adamson ran himself into the ground and Harley Milich and Finley McLindin repelled numerous opposition attacks. Bowen McDonald contributed well too - his hockey has come on well during the season. We look forward to his return for 2023 games. 

The boys play with good spirit and I am thoroughly enjoying my time with them.
