Welcome to 3/4B with

Mrs Stein & Miss Banfield

What is happening in 3/4B?

What a great start to Term 3 we have had. As part of the resilience project, we have been focusing on gratitude and thinking about who and what we are grateful for. We have also watched the movie Inside Out and discussed our emotions and identified how we feel in different situations. 3/4 B have been working hard on listening and

following instructions as part of our SWBPS sessions.

In Reading, we have been looking at Non Fiction Information texts and identifying text features such as Contents page, Headings, Index etc. We have been looking at finding the main idea and supporting details in Non Fiction and Fiction texts. Students have been working in groups to research facts about Australia. Each group was given a different topic about Australia to research. This information was then compiled and students selected 4 of these topics and planned an information report. We have been discussing the writing process and students will be working towards planning, drafting, revising, editing and

publishing an information report on a South American or African country.

In Numeracy, students have been exploring fractions of both a whole and a collection. They enjoyed doing our lego fractions task where they had to work in groups to find all he fractions of a 2 x4 lego brick. This gave students the chance to challenge and extend their thinking.

We are looking forward to camp in Week 5 and for all the learning still ahead of us this year.
