Uniform Update

Uniform Policy

After considerable discussion, some minor changes have been made to the Uniform Policy with regard to students’ hair. These alterations are highlighted below and will be reinforced from the start of Semester Two.

  • Students’ hair should be of one natural-looking colour worn in a neat conventional style. There are to be no extreme styles or presentation of hair.
  • Students with long hair (touch the shoulder) need to tie it back fully in a way that is out of their eyes and face. Only maroon, navy or white ribbons/scrunchies are acceptable.
  • Clipped hair must not be shorter than a number two (2).
  • Hair should be reasonably groomed and neat as considered by Monivae College standards.
  • Cultural sensitivities will be acknowledged.
  • Students are to be clean shaven.
  • For students with hair that falls outside the expectation, parents will be contacted and asked to have the situation rectified. Continued non-compliance may result in the student not being permitted to return to school until their hair is within the expected guidelines.
  • If any doubt exists for any of the regulations listed above, please contact the Director of Students for clarification.

Student representatives have been working with the uniform committee to add an optional item to the uniform. From Term 3, Monivae scarves will be available. The scarves are a snug 80% wool and 20% nylon blend and feature the Monivae colours. They are $30 each and will be available from the canteen.
