Hi everyone!

As we near the end of another academic year, we have a jam-packed Term 4 for everybody at JSA. It is exciting to see students gradually returning to onsite learning throughout the next month to settle and re-engage them with their peers and familiar staff.

Our key Curriculum Development, Assessment and Reporting items are as follows:

Semester 2 Reporting

As families would expect, our Semester 2 Reports are to be distributed in time before our Term 4 SSG meetings, scheduled in Weeks 9-11. Teachers are in the process of formulating assessments to inform their findings to when measuring each child's academic performance for this semester. Due to an extended Remote and Flexible Learning period this semester, teachers will consider and factor in the extent of each child's level of engagement and their ability to demonstrate progress at this time.

In Semester 2, we will be reporting on the following academic areas:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Critical and Creative Thinking
  • Science
  • Technologies (Stephanie Alexander Garden Program)
  • Specialist Areas (PE, Art/Media Arts or Music and Dance)

Term 4 SSGs

As mentioned, Term 4 SSGs will be conducted in Weeks 9-11.

Parents will be able to discuss detail outlined in the Semester 2 Report and considerations for their child's needs in preparation for their 2022 Transition.

Class Solver

As mentioned in past newsletters, 'Class Solver' is the new software we are using to formulate class lists year to year. Teachers completed their online surveys outlining key students to inform this process.  Our Sub School Leaders have collaborated to run the Class Solver and formulate classes based on student need and suitability. Whilst working in partnership with our rep from Class Solver, all appears to be running well.

Teachers and ES Staff will be sent a final version in Week 8.

All class lists will be emailed to families in Week 9.

School Events Update

Sadly due to our current COVID Guidelines,  we have needed to cancel both the Mini Olympics Extravaganza and Scholastic Book Fair.

In planning for 2022, we have booked:

  • Mini Olympics Day on Monday, March 28th (in Term 1)
  • Scholastic Book Fair in Term 3 (Date TBC)

Please continue to do what you can to keep safe .

Having completed my placement this week, I look forward to returning to my AP role in Week 3. I have missed you all. :)
