The End of an Era

Mr Nigel Cockington is a man of the highest level of integrity and professionalism. Despite my appeals to him to remain at BMGS and see our vision for the Junior School fulfilled, he has recognised, in himself, a crossroad in his professional and personal life that requires a response. His recent video announcement explains his rationale.

Mr Cockington has led the most beautiful Junior School at Wentworth Falls for fourteen of his fifteen years in this community and now leads both campuses of our Junior School. The children love him, he has tremendous expertise in all matters education and he will leave a lasting legacy here at BMGS. Nigel and I, along with the whole School executive, have had lengthy conversations about the type of School BMGS is and that which it must become in order to fulfil our vision for young people. Our vision is shared and collaborative and second to none that I have heard expressed in the world of education. Mr Cockington brings great value to that conversation and will be sorely missed in that team, by his Junior School staff and by the many students that have been educated in the Junior School.

Along with many others, I have nothing but love, friendship, admiration, respect and collegiality for Mr Cockington and will ensure that he is farewelled from this School in such a way that reflects the honour that is his due.

Earlier this week I recorded a welcome back video that showcases the newly renovated Science classroom in the Pitt Owen Building. Please take a look. In this video, I also make reference to the changes to return to school dates and the ongoing planning that we are doing in preparation for the return of staff and students to our campuses. Next week families will receive a letter from me that addresses these plans in some detail as well as our 2022 Fee Schedule. For now, please know that, after a year of no increase in fees due to the financial impacts of COVID-19, the School has kept our fees as low as possible.
