Junior School Update

An Exciting End to the Academic Year
Our Junior School students have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks with several incursions and excursions planned to end our academic program for 2022.
As part of the Humanities Program, all Year 8 students will participate in Medieval Day on Monday 22 November. A range of engaging presenters will come into the College with students rotating through six activities throughout the day. These activities have been developed around the following topics:
- Archery
- Crime & Punishment
- Status of Women
- Tournament
- Weapons
- Games with Troubadours
On Monday 29 November our Year 7 students will participate in a half-day incursion called The Smoothie Bar. The incursion aims to teach students about businesses and economic decisions that consumers and businesses make. It focuses on financial literacy, marketing campaigns, enterprise skills, supply and demand and highlights how businesses produce and sell a product. The program is hands-on and requires the students to work in small teams to design and produce a smoothie for marketing. They get to test out different smoothie flavours and then pitch their final product to the cohort as a marketing campaign. Not only will this teach skills in teamwork, collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving and public speaking but it will also educate them on future pathways and careers.
Later that week our Year 7's will head to Melbourne Zoo on Thursday 2 December where they will attend a presentation focused on animal adaptations and classifications. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to consolidate their understanding of the Animal Habitats and Classifications Unit studied in Science earlier this year.
