Memory Bank Project

2020 Memory Bank – Rangeview Remembers     Life in Covid

Last year during our Lockdown 2, Rangeview undertook a lockdown project to keep a record of our students’ and community’s experiences during the pandemic and our (first) long lockdown. We wanted to highlight to our students how we are living in a pivotal moment in history and also provide a platform for them to express their feelings and explore various aspects of the lockdown experience.

Each week, we posted a theme on our online learning platform Seesaw, and students could send back a submission if they wished. We hoped to capture some of the moments, both inspiring and challenging, that easily become lost in the busyness of our days and weeks.

The response from our students was amazing. Their submissions were thoughtful and creative and gave a glimpse into their experiences of day-to-day life in lockdown.

We compiled these submissions into a book: Memory Bank – Rangeview Remembers – Life in Covid. It took some time, but we have now received our hard copies. These are available for families to view, once restrictions permit, in the Rangeview Primary School Library, and also at the front office.

We had thought when compiling our Memory Bank book that we would be able to present it to our wonderful community and reminisce about the time we were in lockdown last year, so long ago … Little did we know what 2021 would hold!

The 2020 submissions, however, are representative of how positive and resilient our students and families are and how our community has really banded together to help each other through these challenging times. They are a reminder that in the long days of lockdown, it is the little pleasures that make a difference: doing something kind for someone, a hug, sitting in the sun, having a good belly laugh.

We are so proud of our Rangeview students and community and look forward to coming out on the other side of this together.
