Free Weekend
This weekend is the first of our free weekends for the term, and it coincides with Monday's public holiday. Students who have chosen to stay in for the long weekend will be involved in activities and outings on Saturday and Monday. On Sunday, the usual boarding program will apply.
Students who have made arrangements to leave the College this weekend are expected back in residence between 4pm and 8pm on Monday 1 May, unless prior communication has been made with the respective Head of Residence. There will be one dinner at 6pm on Monday.
For planning purposes, please note the following dates:
Tablelands School Visits and Family Dinner
Last Friday, we had the pleasure of visiting three Catholic primary schools on the Tablelands. It was great to be able to talk to students about St Augustine’s and St Monica’s, as well as provide them with information about our boarding program. Special thanks to our boarders Jess Rye, Jennifer Thiele, Gus Rolfe and Darcy Watt for joining us and talking to the different schools.
To finish our Tablelands visit, we gathered at the Tolga Hotel and enjoyed a fantastic night with our Tablelands boarding families. A splendid day all round!
Thursday Afternoon Boarding Activities
Our Term 2 program starts on Thursday afternoon in Week 3, where the Years 7-10 students will be involved in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Activities on offer are as follows:
Boarders are reminded to sign up to ensure they are participating in something they enjoy.
Weekend Outing
The first Saturday outing for the term was held last weekend. The weather was somewhat unpredictable and wet but the girls and boys still enjoyed the Babinda Boulders activity, followed by some activities on campus.
Term 2 Tutoring Program
Our Daily Homework and Study Program has dedicated staff who are committed to assisting our boarders with their schoolwork. Tutoring is available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights for all boarders. This consists of group and/or individual tutoring.
Outings with Parents
The boarding community encourages students to spend time with their families when in Cairns. Students are always encouraged to have a meal with their families or to spend some time with them where possible. However, we ask that your son's Head of Residence is given at least 24 hours' notice before he's due to leave the College. For all leave requests and any communication, Heads of Residence should always be the first point of contact.
