Mrs Watt
Grade 1 Teacher
1. Name: Andrea Watt (Mrs Watt)
2. Position
Grade 1 and Extension Teacher
3. Favourite way to spend your weekend or a day off?
Watching my children play sport especially football and taking my scruffy pup Wally for walks.
4. How long have you worked at JPII?
This is my first term at JPII and before that I worked at St Aloysius down in Kingston.
5. What are your unique attributes that you bring to teaching and the JPII team/community? Mmm, that’s a hard one. I suppose my enthusiasm for children and my love of helping children be their best self.
6. Could you tell us a little about your work in extension?
An area that I really like to explore in my teaching is helping children extend their learning in new and different ways. I like to help children understand how they can make connections between what they already know and using this information to help them understand new concepts. I am also really interested in every child being given the opportunity to be challenged and to learn strategies to help them when things seem difficult or hard.
7. Favourite part of working in your position at JPII?
Being able to work with Mrs Hickey again as I have worked with her before at St Als. And, of course, being able to work with all the amazing children who have welcomed me into their school.
8. Your goal/s, aspirations for your Grade 1 students to achieve in your class
this year?
To be their best self – kind, caring and helpful and to strive to always try to be the best learner they can be by remembering the power of YET.
