Weekly Dad Tips
Are you a dad with a child navigating their gender identity? We know it can be tough, but the most important thing you can do is support your child. We’ve got some tips to help you understand how you can be an ally, whether it's for your own child or other children in the community.
Remember, every gender-diverse young person is different, and their experience may be different, but they all need to be listened to by their loved ones. It’s okay if you don’t have all the answers, but being a trustworthy, open-minded, and supportive dad can make all the difference to your child’s wellbeing and mental health.
Top Tips
1. Respect your child's privacy and right to confidentiality. Let them know you will always respect their wishes before disclosing anything.
2. Listen to your child and let them know you love and support them no matter what. Remember that every gender-diverse young person is different and needs to be heard.
3. Take a step-by-step approach to exploring your child's gender identity. Consult with your child and let them guide the process.
