SPBL -School Wide Positive Behaviour for Learning
As we near the end of the term, I am so proud to announce that all the Teams have worked on their positive behaviour from the first day they all walked in the school gates this year.
As you can see from the photo, the MacKillop house are in the lead, but we still have a week and a half for all teams to collect as many tokens as they can and take the lead by winning a mufti day, pizza lunch and disco on Monday 3rd April.
I have never seen so many tokens in all house groups before. I'd like to thank all the students for their unreal efforts in following our SPBL expectations and to the teachers for noticing positive behaviour and rewarding the students with tokens. A great job all round!
National Ride to School Day
Get your bike and helmet ready!
This year, National Ride2School Day will be on Friday, 24th March 2023. You can take your part by joining Ride2School this year with your bike, scooter or skateboard to celebrate a fun active travel and kick-start healthy habits for the future. If you can't ride a bike to school, what about parking the car one block away from school and walking to school?
Ride2School is a nationwide program delivered by Bicycle Network designed to support schools to encourage, empower and enable more students to get physically active on their journey to school.
Wellbeing
Recently, I heard a student say to their parent, "I couldn't play today because you forgot to pack my hat!" Instead of reacting to his frustration, the parent took a deep breath and decided to use the situation as a teachable moment. They explained to him that although they understood his feelings, it was his responsibility to ensure that he had everything he needed before leaving the house. As teachers, we say exactly the same to students.
From a personal experience, a good way to remember is to create a checklist to help children remember all the necessary items they need for school. This helps them learn the importance of personal accountability.
It's essential to teach children how to take responsibility for their actions and choices. This week’s parenting guide "Don't Let Your Child Grow Up With a Victim Mentality” will help you do just that!
