Year 11 PE La Trobe University Excursions

Students from Year 11 PE were recently involved in excursions to the new La Trobe University Sports Stadium and visited Sports Science laboratories.

The students completed the thermo-regulation laboratory where they compared their exercise performance and body system responses to high versus low temperatures.

The laboratories have the capacity simulate both high temperature and high altitude conditions and the sessions where facilitated by two of the universities PHD students. While at the centre our students got to see and experience these state-of-the-art facilities including the high performance gym, FIFA standard synthetic soccer pitches and the courts and laboratories that are becoming the one of the main sports science hubs of Melbourne.

In particular, they are focusing on female athletes including the Matilda’s football training department and many AFLW teams.
