School for Student Leadership - Gnurad Gundid Campus - Term 1 Program

Our time at Gnurad has flown by so fast.
We have learnt so many things ranging from who we are and our identity to how cook meals on Trangia's.
The teachers here are wonderful and are so supportive of everyone.
The friendships we have made we know are going to last forever no matter how far apart we are.
We have learnt from others not only in the way we live but also the difference in our societies and how to deal with those situations.
Expos have been so fun our most recent expo we had to bike ride from Koroit to Port Fairy which was about 18kms on tandem and mountain bikes.
Then we camped the night in Port Fairy.
The next day we walked just under 7kms from Port Fairy to Killarney where we stayed our second night and then we walked 5kms the next day to the cutting.
Although it was tiring, we all had so much fun and it was one of the best adventures we could ever have.
From Safe Food Handling courses to First Aid courses to trivia nights and table tennis tournaments to just hanging out at the beach with our mates - we truly do love it here.
We can't wait to continue creating memories that will last a lifetime.
We can't wait to see where the rest of this adventure will take us.

Peer Support

The Peer Support Program has been a health and wellbeing program running this year as part of the Launch Program for Years 7 and 10 students.

Each Year 7 student has been buddied up with a Year 10 Peer Support Leader.

It has provided an opportunity for our Year 10 students to develop their own leadership skills to lead small groups of Year 7 students in structured weekly sessions.

The program has supported our Year 7 students with the transition to secondary school, built on connections and friendships and given an increased sense of personal responsibility and agency to all.

This week was the last formal session of the program which finished with the Ball challenge activity.

A lot of fun was had by all students.

GRIP Middle School Leadership Conference

On the 29th of March, Middle School Leaders were given the opportunity to attend the GRIP Leadership Conference where we learned about refining our leadership skills and how to make sure our school community feels valued as a whole.
The amazing GRIP leadership team members took us through a series of compelling activities where we were able to interact with other leaders from different schools, as well as explore our different school communities.
These activities first appeared simple but were further explained showing the underlying messages and lessons about our styles of leadership, and how we can implement them in a positive way throughout life.
We were able to reflect on ourselves as leaders and take in this knowledge to create more awesome ideas for new projects at our school.
Overall we had a great time learning and building new leadership skills with the GRIP team and hope to use these ideas to embrace our school in the future!

Year 9 Global Youth Leaders Forum

The Year 9 House Captains attended the Victorian Young Leaders: Emerging Leaders Forum which was a global forum where we were able to build on their student leadership, voice, agency and intercultural understanding.
We were were able to connect with international schools in the Asia - Pacific region as well as other Victorian schools to discuss what it means to be a global citizen.
We explored topics like identity, culture, belonging and global citizenship.
We had a valuable experience in connecting with other schools and learnt a lot about what it is like to be a student in another country and how we can contribute to the world as a global citizen.
