Living in different climates

In Level 1 HSIE we are learning how climate affects where we live and liveability. Students have been learning what it is like to live in different parts of the world that have different climates. We have created climate graphs that help us compare and contrast the climate of different cities (pictured above).

Over the coming weeks, we will be planning, drafting and writing an informative text that compares two cities.

Getting to know our students

We've all learnt a great deal more from Salam Muhi's (Year 11) description of his life and background in Iraq. His family were sheep farmers living in a small Ezidi community.

Salam's education was disrupted while living in a refugee camp for four years. However, since settling in Armidale in 2018 he has appreciated the opportunities to learn English, make friends, and get to know about Australian culture.

See Salam's full story and extra photos to learn more about Ezidi religion, culture, and lifestyle.
