Sista Speak
The ASC Aboriginal Learning and Engagement Centre have been running the Sista Speak programme throughout most of this term. The programme is targeted at Years 8 and 9 to include three main components:
- using knowledge of local Aboriginal people with a visit to the Aboriginal Cultural Keeping Place and basket weaving;
- building on the health of our students through a collaboration with Armidale Community Health Service, F45 Gym and PCYC;
- engaging in education through respectful interactions in classes using positive reinforcement cards.
Aboriginal staff from the ALEC have had support in this programme from Susan Hoddinott (Deputy Principal - Stage 6) and Alicia Webb (Year 9 Advisor).
We are now half-way through the programme with the girls enjoying some really positive experiences.
