Epic victory for ASC U18s

Under 18s: Armidale (17) v Farrer 1st (15)

In torrential rain last Friday night our under 18s team caused the biggest upset in the North West Regional Comps three-year history.  Played in torrential rain and a tightly contested game, Year 12 student Grayson Te Moana coolly slotted a sideline conversion to put Armidale ahead by two after they had trailed 5-0 at half time. The Armidale lads rallied against a late Farrer surge, with Year 11 student Callan Green at prop making a strong debut in contested scrums.  Well done to the whole team on a fantastic victory!

Under 16s: Armidale (0) v Tamworth Pirates (15)

A match played in poor weather conditions saw the combined school’s team from Tamworth defeat Armidale 15 to nil.  ASC students Lewis Graham and Dylan Rush played well for the injury riddled Armidale team.

Under 14sArmidale (18) v Calrossy 1st (0)

Our under 14s were back to their winning best, keeping the Calrossy 1st scoreless to record a resounding win.  Lucas Thornton (Year 8) ran strongly and scored for the home team, while Flynn McWhirter (Year 7) played well in the forwards.  Great game boys, well done to all!

Girls' Rugby shines

We've had a great start in the Girls' Rugby with a strong turn-out of students keen to play.

Under 14s:

We've had to form two teams to from our ASC Under 14 girls wanting to play:  one comprising solely of ASC students, and the other including PLC students.  It was fantastic to see all team members trying hard and playing well. Notable performances included Year 8 students Sara Dixon, Masie Moran-Kim and Dakoda Jex. Final scores were

ASC (15) v O’Connor 1st (20)

ASC/PLC (20) v O’Connor 2nd (0)

ASC/PLC (0) v O’Connor 1st (15)

ASC (25) v O’Connor 2nd (10)

Under 16s:

The ASC Under 16s combined with PLC to take on two O’Connor teams, with the ASC/PLC squads split into two after a late rush for registration. PLC Coach Ben Lawry and ASC Coach took a side each. Both ASC/PLC teams recorded one win and a one loss. Patricia Dixon (Year 11) was our stand-out player, while Amelia Newell (Year 9) was most improved.  We are hoping to be able to form a stand-alone ASC team for the rest of the season.
