Classroom News - Kindergarten
Mrs McMillan and Mrs Godwin
Home reading started last week and the excitement among our Kindergarten students was truly tremendous. They all set personal goals to read every night, including the weekends! A reminder that home readers are changed on Wednesdays (same day as Library day), however if you wish to keep the home readers for another week, you are very welcome to return them the following Wednesday.
Learning in Kindergarten
In English, we are learning the letter ‘u’ and reading the tricky words ‘look’ and ‘one’. Kindergarten are becoming very familiar with the Big Write routine on Thursdays, and we enjoy playing our VCOP games such as Kung Fu Punctuation and Think Quick!
In Maths, Kindergarten are learning how to group and divide. We are starting to use new mathematical language to describe our groups like ‘equal’ and ‘not equal’ and share objects equally.
This week we start a new unit in Personal Development and Health (PDH), Art, Science and Religion. In PDH, we are exploring how to be healthy and what we can do to stay healthy. In Art, we will be learning how to make sculptures and in Science we will be investigating things that roll, spin, bounce and slide. In Religion, we are learning about Sacred objects in the Church.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank parents and carers for meeting with us to talk to about new learning goals for your child/children in our zoom meetings last week.
