Planning for 2021

Last Thursday and Friday I attended a Meeting in Tamworth for all principals from the Diocese of Armidale. The focus of the two days  was to work collaboratively on school improvement across the Diocese.

As part of the days we looked at student learning and well being as well as planning for our areas of challenge and focus for 2021. As a follow up from this day there was a Zoom Meeting yesterday for Assistant Principals and Leaders of Pedagogy with Principals to have all school leadership teams on the same page. This was a great opportunity for us as a leadership team to look at our current data, challenges and areas of focus. From this we can plan for 2021.

Kindergarten 2021

Over the last couple of months Mrs Reinke, Mrs Cain and I have interviewed our Kindergarten students for 2021. This is always an exciting time as we meet our new students who are so enthusiastic about starting big school.

Unfortunately with the COVID restrictions this year we will no longer be able to run our transition class in Term 4. Therefore we are currently looking at ways to provide some other experiences for these students so that they can become familiar with the school facilities and the people with whom  they will come in contact. We are currently organising a virtual tour for the families and this will be available on our web page. We have also had a request from one of the local preschools for some uniforms for their dress ups but at present we are running low on small sizes in the uniform pools so if anyone has some at home that they are prepared to donate it would be much appreciated if you could please drop them at the office.

School Crossing Supervisor

Thank you to all our parents who have been using the school crossing and modelling for students. Please be aware that the Crossing Supervisor as part of her role has to follow a specific process which may seem silly to people who have been crossing the road for many years. Please stop and listen to her and follow her directions as this is a wonderful way for our students to learn.

Parent-Teacher and Personal Plan Meetings

Thank you to all our parents and carers who made themselves available for zoom meetings and phone calls with their child’s teacher. This partnership between school and parents is vital to student learning as we model for the students that we value their learning.
