Classroom News - Year 5

                                     Literacy

In Year 5 we have been looking at Informative texts. Students wrote some excellent biographies on heroes and factual texts on an animal of their choice. We are writing a narrative of their choice for their Big Write this week. Thank you to all the parents that are going through the talk homework with their child. This is extremely helpful and students are coming on the Big Write days with some wonderful ideas.

                    Mathematics, Science and Technology

In Week 6 and 7 we are learning about Mass in our measurement unit. In Science we are working through our 'Material World' PBL. Students have been participating in a variety of experiments related to the use of different materials. We are also learning about Sustainability and an Eco Friendly world. We will be completing our Create task in a couple of weeks where the students will be drawing a design of a Sustainable playground.

                                    Religion

In Religion we are continuing to learn about the history of the Catholic Church in Australia

                Student Teacher: Matt Todd

Matt Todd finished his Practicum with us last week. He taught a variety of lessons since the start of the term and worked fantastically with Year 5 and students really enjoyed having him with us. A big thank to Matt Todd for all the time and effort he spent with Year 5.

                                  Technology

In Year 5 we have been having conversations about appropriate use of technology . We have been discussing the appropriate use of their school email and how they use Social Media and Gaming. It would be great if you could discuss this with your child to remind them what is acceptable when using different technologies.
