Classroom News - Year 3

Miss Outridge, Mrs Croft and Miss Limen

English

This term, year 3 have been taking part in a persuasive writing unit. Last week, the chairs in Year 3 quit! The students worked very hard to convince them to come back and had a chance to see what it would be like if they had to stand or kneel for their work.

Mathematics

This week has seen Year 3 investigating Patterns and Algebra in Mathematics. Creating number patterns and getting a partner to guess the "rule" has been a hit with the students.

Religious Education

As Year 3 prepare for our Sacrament of First Reconciliation, we have been role playing scenarios in which we would need to forgive or be forgiven. We have also created stained glass window artworks on the importance of the Sacrament we are about to undertake.

PE

Year 3 have been practicing their dodge ball skills with a friendly competition between 3C and 3O.

Science

We have now started our Science Project Based Learning. We will be investigating  the unit Earth Beneath Our Feet. Students in Year 3 are encouraged to bring in any books or even special rocks they may have that could add to our knowledge on this subject. In Week 7 students will create a bridge aimed at helping the problem of erosion you may face on a beach. From now until Week 7 students can bring in any materials with which they would like to make their (model) bridge.
