Vacation Care - What we have been making and doing!

Our Vacation Care program was full of engaging activities that were based on the daily programmed theme and inspired by children's interests and ideas.  Some of the highlights included: indoor and outdoor shelter building challenges, recycled box craft and construction, a dinosaur day complete with a dinosaur bone hunt, and plenty of science activities and experiments including crystal making, exploring chemical reactions with baking soda and vinegar, and making homemade ice cream.

We built our own shelters from bamboo stakes and blankets.
Children collaborated and experimented. They all worked so well together!

Children worked in teams to make a shelter for a toy dinosaur.
Each group was given a time limit and a mystery bag of materials to use.

We talked about, and investigated, many types of crystals, both tiny and large.

We made our own ice cream.
All the ingredients were shaken with ice before going into the freezer.
It was delicious. Just like the real thing!
