We have a very talented student at our kinder and he helped us to win $10,000 for the Family Learning Centre - Well done Sonni

We have talked for many weeks about a very special invitation the College received from GMHBA, Kane Construction and Quintessential Equity who are the major players in the construction of a brand new GMHBA Block in Moorabool Street. To celebrate the building and the enormous crane it needs to construct, our college Preps and Kindergarten children were invited to think of a name for the crane.

Sonni decided that 'Boomka' is a great name for the crane that he imagined would go “boomka, boomka, boomka” as it spins and moves across the building site.  Sonni often plays a builder at Kinder so it was really special that he won the competition and was able to visit the site of the new GMHBA building, see his Boomka up close and have photos taken with his teacher, Vivian. Sonni also got to meet the team that are planning and constructing the new building, newspaper reporters, and receive a REALLY big cheque!

One of the activities we love the most at the Family Centre – making RAINBOWS

While we remain physically and socially distant, here is a link to bring some colour and magic into your world with your child you can still weave your own rainbow! Together!

Even the youngest family members can get creative with textiles and yarn.

These Story Craft videos and resources combine fun craft activities and stories together. Check out the link make your own woven rainbow – share with your family and friends and hang in the window!

You can also find books to READ that celebrate family and creativity from the Geelong Regional Libraries! Download books from their website.  It’s ever important to take care of ourselves and stay connected to friends, and to community activities during these challenging times.
