Visual Arts

I am very proud of the care and effort with which students are completing their Art and Design projects. Work is coming in thick and fast to tasks.

Moving online at the start of Term 3 meant introducing a new cohort of students to the Year 8, 9 and 10 electives. It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know and teach them.

Year 10 Art & Photography

I share with you below some of the Year 10 Art students' family portraits, our first unit off the bat. They had to draw in the style of Indigenous artist, Vernon Ah Kee. An image of his portrait William Barak, a Woi wurung man, was studied and used as inspiration.

The Year 10 Photography students have also completed a portrait unit,  with consideration of compositional arrangement, layers and the communication of interests.

Year 7 Art

The Year 7 students have been working on a Zine. Zines are small publications that are topic specific and students were given the opportunity to inform us visually, with the addition of some text. When folded, these booklets are quite small and sequential. The back page when flat is on the bottom left, the front page next to it. The task required compositional consideration: cropping, scale and line variation, the use of positive and negative shapes, balance and distinctions as each page turned. It was interesting to note the scope and the different topics of interests from quite unique individuals.

Year 7 students and staff have also been offered the opportunity to respond to a weekly prompt for a Photography Competition. Congratulations to Tahlia F for her very clear, composed shot. I am confident you will be able to identify what this prompt was. Enjoy!
