Growing our alumni community

Spring has well and truly sprung and the promise of brighter days here in Melbourne is certainly upon us. Not even a pandemic can keep a good thing down so it's with much relief and excitement that we are able to welcome this, the very first St Albans Secondary College Alumni Program Spring Review. 

With your help our college has developed an alumni program to connect you (our wonderful alumni) back into the school to inspire and help current students, and to advance our school. To help us do this, we partnered with a not-for-profit service called Ourschool, the first service of its kind in Australia that helps public high schools grow their alumni communities.

Our alumni program has blossomed in 2020, despite the challenging environment. The aim of the program was to invite alumni back on campus, into the classrooms, to motivate and raise aspirations though the sharing of their experiences beyond school.  The students could ask questions and receive real time feedback from a relatable and inspiring source, however with restrictions in place, and remote learning being the norm for much of the year, the program had to quickly adapt and find new ways to connect our alumni community back in with our current students.  This we managed skillfully, and with outstanding results!
